A Christmas Story House! Take A Red Ryder Road Trip
If you’re like me, you’ve seen A Christmas Story roughly 87364293846 times. You grew up with it, you can recite most of it, and you STILL watch it 3 or 4 times during the yearly Christmas Eve/Christmas Day marathon on TBS. If this sounds like you, and you’re traveling through the Ohio/Pennsylvania-ish area, then pleeeaassee stop in Cleveland and visit A Christmas Story House and Museum.
CHRISTMAS MOVIE MAGIC
There is free street parking, and tour tickets are a mere $11. The house and museum are open year-round, but closed on major holidays. Tours run every half hour starting at 10:15 a.m. You purchase your tickets at the gift shop across the street, then meet in front of the house. Here you can hang out and take some exterior pictures. Then you go in for a fairly short but informative tour. They keep it light and fun, and any true fan will love getting the inside scoop. Then they let you loose to wander on your own. You can take pictures with the leg lamp, and under the kitchen sink where Randy was hiding out in the movie.
After your tour time is over, you can walk across the street and check out the museum. Here you will find tonsss of original props and costumes from the movie, and hundreds of rare behind-the-scenes photos.
Then lastly you can visit the gift shop. There you can purchase shirts, mugs, or your very own leg lamp! I got a fridge magnet, and a fancy silver Christmas ornament with the house on it.
Seeing the iconic house and the original costumes is really a surreal experience. There is a lot to do in Cleveland, but this pit stop is fun, memorable, and won’t eat up the whole day. So swing by, bring your camera, and don’t shoot your eye out. ♥
